Russell Splits with Minneapolis

Boys: Minneapolis 54, Russell 22

The Russell girls exploded for 28 third quarter points and rolled to a 57-38 win over Minneapolis on Friday, Jan. 25 at Amos Morris Gym in Russell.

The Lady Broncos trailed 14-9 after one quarter and 18-11 early in the second.  Russell cut the deficit to 21-19 and then took control by outscoring the Lady Lions 28-6 in the third quarter.

The Lady Broncos committed 22 turnovers, but just seven in the second half.

Madison Beagley scored 20 points to lead Russell.  Janna Schulte had 12 points, Savannah Huff 10 and Alex Ptacek eight.

The Lady Broncos improve to 11-3 overall and 4-2 in the NCAA.

Russell could not get their offense going in the boys game and lost 54-22.

The Broncos trailed 28-15 at halftime and were outscored 26-7 in the second half.

Wade Hidde scored six points and Keltonn Morris five for Russell.

The Broncos fall to 1-13 overall and 1-5 in league play.

Russell travels to Ellsworth on Tuesday for their fourth and final regular-season meeting with the Bearcats and Lady Bearcats.  The RHS girls are 2-1 vs. Ellsworth, while the Bearcats are 2-1 vs. the RHS boys.  The girls game begins at 6pm with the boys to follow around 7:30pm.  Catch both games on Classic Hits 95.9 and stream here on www.krsl.com.
