Russell Splits with SE-Saline

Girls: Russell 48, SE-Saline 45
Boys: SE-Saline 73, Russell 29
Janna Schulte scored three points in the final minute to break a 45-all tie and lifted the Russell girls to a 48-45 win over SE-Saline on Friday, Feb. 15 at Amos Morris Gym in Russell.
The Lady Broncos led by as many as nine in the first half and were up 30-25 at halftime. SES cut the deficit to 36-35 after three quarters and tied the game at 45, but never took the lead in the final quarter.
Madison Beagley scored a game-high 21 points to lead Russell. Schulte finished with 12 points.
The Lady Broncos improve to 14-5 overall and 7-4 in the NCAA.
In the boys game, SE-Saline exploded for 31 points in the third quarter and rolled to a 73-29 win over Russell.
The Broncos played well in the first half and trailed 28-21 at halftime. But SES outscored Russell 31-6 in the third quarter to go up 59-27 and finished the game by outscoring the Broncos 14-2 in the fourth quarter.
Eric Rourke scored 11 points for Russell before fouling out midway through the third quarter. Austin Donovan had 10 points.
The Broncos fall to 1-18 overall and 1-10 in league play.
Russell closes out the regular-season on Tuesday at Minneapolis.
