Broncos Swept by Colby

The Russell High School baseball team dropped to 3-5 on the season after being swept by Colby on Thursday, April 11 at Shaffer Field.
The Broncos lost 9-7 and 11-4.
In the opener, Colby jumped out to a 7-3 lead after the top of the fourth inning. Russell scored three in the bottom of fourth to make it 7-6. The Eagles added single runs in the sixth and seventh to go up 9-6. The Broncos tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh. Russell scored one run and had two aboard, but left them stranded after their final two batters were retired.
In game two, Colby scored two in the first, six in the second and one in the third to take a 9-3 lead. The Eagles held Russell scoreless the rest of the way.
The Broncos had nine hits in the doubleheader. Logan Braun, Brady Dinkel and Kaden Rohr each had two hits.
Russell was scheduled to play at Beloit on Friday, but the games have been postponed to May 6 due to wet fields. So the Broncos will now host Minneapolis on Tuesday at 4pm.Read More Sports
