SES Sweeps Russell to Win NCAA League Title

The Russell High School baseball team fell short in their quest of their first league title since 2008 after being swept by SE-Saline on Thursday, May 2 at Shaffer Field in Russell.

The Broncos lost 5-3 in eight innings and 11-1.

In the opener, Russell rallied to tie the game at two with a single run in the bottom of the seventh inning.  But The Trojans scored three in the eighth for the win.  In game two, SES (14-4 overall, 9-1 NCAA) jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the second inning and cruised to the victory.

Kaden Rohr (1-3) gave up five runs on five hits before exiting in the eighth inning and took the loss in game one.  Brandon Bachar (3-3) allowed three runs in one inning of work and suffered the loss in game two.

Russell was held to eight hits in the doubleheader.  Dylan Braun, Brady Dinkel and Riley Pfannenstiel each had two hits.

The Broncos drop to 7-9 overall and 5-3 in league play.  With the sweep, SES wins the league championship.

Russell plays Saturday at Larned.  Game one of the doubleheader begins at 2pm.
