RHS Falls to Sacred Heart in Regional Semifinal

RHS SoftballThe Russell High School softball team had their season come to an end on Tuesday, May 14 following a 10-2 loss to Sacred Heart in the semifinals of the Russell 3A Regional at the Memorial Park Complex.

The Lady Knights (18-2) scored in every inning except the second and that was more than enough support for Kaylee Erickson.  The senior right-hander took a perfect game into the fifth inning before allowing a leadoff double to Anna Plante.  Erickson held Russell to five hits and struck out 12.

Plante, Megan Boxberger, Kyleigh Kasper, Savanna Huff and Chantal Prester each had one hit for the Lady Broncos.

Prester (2-3) allowed eight runs on eight hits over five innings and took the loss.

Russell winds up their season with an 11-11 record.

Sacred Heart beat Ellsworth 10-0 in five innings in the regional championship game and advances to the 3A State Tournament in Manhattan on May 23 and 24.
