Sacred Heart Too Much for Broncos

RHS FootballThe Russell High School football team fell behind early and never recovered as they were shutout by Sacred Heart 61-0 on Friday, Oct. 11 at Glenn Martin Stadium in Salina.

The Knights (5-1 overall, 3-1 NCAA) jumped out to a 27-0 lead after the first quarter, led 47-0 at halftime and 54-0 after three quarters.

Sacred Heart scored touchdowns on all eight of their offensive possessions and had a defensive fumble recovery for another TD.

Russell was held to just 92 yards of total offense and committed two turnovers. The Knights finished the game with 366 total yards.

Bronco runningback Chase Prester had 32 yards on the ground. Quarterback Reshean Holloway passed for 39 yards and ran for another 21.

Sacred Heart quarterback Nick Wuthnow passed for three touchdowns and runningback Justin McCartney added two more rushing touchdowns.

Russell falls to 1-5 overall and finishes NCAA league play at 1-5.

The Broncos open district on Friday at home against rival TMP (1-5). Gametime is at 7pm at Shaffer Field. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30pm on Classic Hits 95.9 and www.krsl.com.
