Broncos Shutout by Scott City in Finale

RHS FootballThe Russell High School football team had their season come to a close on Thursday, Oct. 31 following a 54-0 loss to Scott City at Darner Field in Scott City.

The Beavers, who are ranked as high as third in Class 3A, controlled the game from start to finish. Scott City led 27-0 after the first quarter. The Beavers added three more touchdowns in the second quarter to go up 47-0 at halftime and scored their final TD early in the third quarter.

Scott City outgained Russell 342-78 in total yards and forced the Broncos into two turnovers.

Kiefer Craig led Russell with 24 yards rushing. Eric Rourke followed with 19 and Reshean Holloway had 17.

Russell ends the season with a 1-8 record. Scott City improves to 8-1 and advances to the 3A playoffs for the eighth-straight season. Hoisington is the district runner-up and earned a trip to the playoffs with a 26-17 win over TMP.
