Broncos Drop Opener to Minneapolis

Minneapolis started the game red-hot from the field and never cooled off as the Lions beat the Russell boys 68-35 in the first round of the Hoisington Winter Jam on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the Hoisington Activities Center.
The Lions jumped out to an 8-0 lead just 40 seconds into the game and led 23-9 after the first quarter. Minneapolis (8-2) extended their lead to 48-22 at halftime and 66-33 after three quarters.
Eric Rourke led the Broncos with nine points. Reshean Holloway and Jordan Swanson each had five points.
The Lion's John Kelly scored a game-high 20 points.
Russell falls to 2-9 and has lost seven-straight since starting the season 2-2.
The Broncos will play a consolation bracket game on Thursday at 4:45pm against Ellinwood at the Hoisington Activities Center. The Eagles lost to Otis-Bison 57-37 on Tuesday. You can listen to Thursday's game on Classic Hits 95.9 and krsl.com.Read More Sports
