Larned Too Much for Broncos

RHS BasketballThe Russell boys had their season come to an end on Friday, March 7 following a 72-37 loss to Larned in the opening round of the Russell Class 4A Div. 2 Sub-State at Amos Morris Gym.

The top-seeded Indians jumped out to a 15-4 lead after the first quarter and led 34-14 at halftime. Larned extended their lead to 53-26 at the end of the third and continued to pull away in the fourth quarter.

The Broncos finished the game with a season-high 34 turnovers.

Eric Rourke had 12 points to lead Russell. Austin Donovan followed with nine points.

Easton Palmer scored a game-high 15 points for Larned and was one of 11 Indians to score in the game.

Russell finishes the season with a 2-19 record. Larned (13-9) advances to Saturday's championship game and will take on Pratt (10-11) at 7:30pm. The second-seeded Greenbacks beat Nickerson 40-32 on Friday.
