RHS Splits Opener vs. Hoisington

RHS BaseballRussell opened its season with a split against Hoisington on Friday, April 4 at Shaffer Field in Russell.

The Broncos lost the opener 6-5, but bounced back to win game two 5-2.

In game one, Russell led 5-4 after the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh, Hoisington plated a pair of unearned runs and held the Broncos scoreless in the bottom of the inning.

In game two, Russell jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first inning and added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Brady Dinkel (0-1) took the loss in relief in the opener. Taylor Rome (1-0) allowed one run on three hits over three innings and earned the win in game two.

Brandon Bachar had four hits, including two doubles, in the doubleheader. Chase Prester had three hits. Kaden Rohr drove in four runs.

Russell (1-1) continues a six-game season opening homestand on Tuesday against Ellsworth. It is also the Broncos' league opener. Game one of doubleheader gets underway at 4pm.
