Broncos Split with Sacred Heart

RHS BaseballThe Russell High School baseball team split their NCAA league doubleheader against Sacred Heart on Friday, April 11 at Shaffer Field in Russell.

The Broncos scored seven runs in the first inning and won the opener 9-2. Sacred Heart used a three-run fifth inning to earn a 5-4 victory in game two.

Brandon Bachar (1-0) allowed two runs on five hits over six innings for the win in game one. Brady Dinkel (1-2) took the loss in relief in game two after allowing three runs on two hits over three innings.

Russell had just three hits in game one, but took advantage of four walks and four Knight errors. Bachar, Chase Prester and Kaden Rohr each had one hit.

The Broncos out-hit Sacred Heart 10-7 in game two, but could not take full advantage of eight walks allowed by Knight pitchers. Bachar, Dinkel, Logan Braun and Taylor Rome each had two hits.

Russell is now 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the NCAA. The Broncos open an eight-game road trip on Tuesday at Colby.
