Russell Municipal Swimming Pool Opens June 16

2019 SoF Pool 4The City of Russell Duke Johnson Municipal Swimming Pool at Memorial Park will open June 16 for the summer 2020 season with some operational changes.

The City is following guidance from the CDC and the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association and taking several precautionary measures to protect patrons and staff.

These measures include social distancing, extra cleaning and disinfection of shared touchpoints, and removal of all chairs and tables. Guests may bring their personal pool chairs.

The concession stand will be open with limited offerings, which include beverages and prepackaged items.

Customers are asked to practice social distancing at the pool, space your chairs appropriately and wear a mask if you're walking around. Wearing a mask while in the pool is discouraged as it can impede breathing.

Children under the age of seven must be accompanied by another customer who is 16 years of age or older.

Due to the shortened season and the limited number of lifeguards, pool hours for the 2020 season will be 1 PM to 6 PM, Tuesday through Sunday. Unfortunately, this year there will not be private swim parties, swim lessons or group water aerobics, such as AquaZumba.

The single person daily admission is $2 with children under five years of age free with paid adult admission. A single person season pass is $50 and a family season pass is $100. Season passes must be purchased at the City Building during regular business hours, which are from 7:30 AM to 5 PM.

For more information about season passes, contact the City Clerk's Office at 785-483-6311.
