The public is invited to meetings on Monday, August 23 at the Masonic Lodge at 115 East Wisconsin in Russell and Tuesday, August 24 at the Lucas Community Center at 135 South Main in Lucas to brainstorm ways to make Russell County a great place to live.

Both meetings begin at 6:30 PM. The events are hosted by the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and the Russell County Area Community Foundation.

The purpose of the meetings is to promote strategic-doing, a process that brings volunteers and civic leaders together to prioritize and collaborate on areas that could transform Russell County. This includes investment in parks, the arts, downtown revitalization, rural housing, entrepreneurship, health, tourism, recreation, economic development and more. Betty Johnson of the Dane G. Hansen Foundation will facilitate discussion. Focus groups will then form to develop action plans and refine ideas to secure funding at follow-up meetings on September 13 and 14.

"We started the strategic-doing process four years ago and it resulted in multiple groups coming together to apply and receive grant funding from the Russell County Area Community Foundation for downtown revitalization, economic development and the arts," said Angie Muller, Executive Director, RCACF. "The Foundation is now looking for new ideas and projects that focus on making our county even better. The brainstorming sessions in August are an opportunity to share what matters most to you and your community and meet like-minded people who also want to make that happen."

The community at-large is invited, including government, business owners, farmers, ranchers, educators, clergy, retired persons, young professionals, volunteers, health officials, stay-at-home parents and all others who wish to see a vibrant Russell County continue.

The events are free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the Russell County Area Community Foundation at 785-445-3611 or rcacf@eaglecom.net.
