Deceased Candidate John Fletcher's Name Will Remain on August Primary Election Ballot

The recent untimely death of former Russell County Administrator and Russell County Sheriff and current Republican candidate for Russell County Commissioner District 4 John Fletcher has created some confusion for the upcoming Primary Election.

According to Russell County Clerk Kristi Whitman and information she has received from the Kansas Secretary of State's Office, John Fletcher's name will remain on the August Primary Election ballot.

Democrat Neil Unrein and Republican Dean Haselhorst are also running for the position.

If Haselhorst wins the Primary, he will advance to the November General Election to face Unrein.

If Fletcher wins the Primary, the Russell County Republican Precinct Committee will select an individual to take his place on the General Election ballot to face Unrein.
