Dorrance Man Dies in Crash Sunday Near Dorrance

A Dorrance man died in a one-vehicle crash Sunday morning on US Highway 40 near Dorrance.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at 5:30 AM Sunday, a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 pickup driven by 45-year-old Wade R. Dyer of Dorrance was westbound on US Highway 40 one mile east of Dorrance.

The vehicle crossed the eastbound lane and entered the ditch. The vehicle continued traveling west until it collided with a concrete bridge barrier.

The impact with the barrier caused the vehicle to fall over the edge of the bridge and land on its wheels in the ditch channel. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Dyer was pronounced dead and taken to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell.

He was not buckled up at the time of the crash.
