The field is set for the Russell County Primary Election in August.

The filing deadline was Monday, June 1 according to the Russell County Clerk's Office.

For the County Commissioner, Republicans Jason Schoenberger and Raeleen Reinhardt will square off for the District 1 seat. Longtime Commissioner Steve Reinhardt, who currently holds the position, did not refile.

For County Commissioner District 4, incumbent Republican Dean Haselhorst will face Republican Melinda Olson.

For County Commission District 5, incumbent Republican Alan Kuntzsch meets Republican Tony Mahoney.

There's no Democrat running for any of the County Commissioner positions, so effectively the winner of the Primary will win the seat unless a write-in candidate challenges in the General Election in November.

Also in the August Primary, Robert Olson filed for Big Creek Township Clerk, Edward Heffel filed for Center Township Clerk, Don Krug filed for Grant Township Clerk, Mike Deines filed for Lincoln Township Clerk, Rudy Haberer II filed for Luray Township Clerk and Chris Pelton filed for Paradise Township Clerk. No one filed for Fairfield Township Clerk, Fairview Township Clerk, Plymouth Township Clerk, Russell Township Clerk, Waldo Township Clerk and Winterset Township Clerk.

Also filing for Russell County Republican Precinct Committeeman and Committeewoman are Steve Reinhardt and Raeleen Reinhardt (Big Creek Township CC1), Alan Kuntzsch and Sheila Kuntzsch  (Center Township CC5), Keith Haberer and Maureen Haberer (Paradise Township CC2), Thomas Lloyd(Plymouth Township CC5), Heather Fletcher (Russell Township CC4), James Malone and Jamie Malone (Russell City Ward 1 CC5), Patricia Haberer (Russell City Ward 2 CC2), Daniel Krug and Linda Krug (Russell City Ward 2 CC4) and Morris Krug (Russell City Ward 4 CC1). There are many other seats on the Republican side where no one filed for Committeeman or Committeewoman or there were no Democrats who filed.

The November General Election is non-partisan for the Russell City Council, Lucas City Council and Russell Regional Hospital Board and therefore those positions will not be voted on and decided until the November General Election.

Four positions are up for election on the Russell City Council - Ward 1, 2, 3 and 4. Incumbent Michelle Wagner Schneider refiled for Ward 1 and is unopposed. No one filed for Ward 2. That seat is currently held by Lisa Anstatt. Incumbent Andrea Garland will face Darrell Karst for Ward 3. Incumbent Brad Wagner refiled for Ward 4 and is unopposed.

Three at-large positions are up for election on the Lucas City Council and three candidates filed - Tarry Dougherty, Kimberly Steinle and Adam Baker.

For hospital board, Steven Line filed for Position 2 and Rhonda Haberer for Position 3. Both are unopposed.

Russell County will hold a Primary Election on August 4 and General Election on November 3.
