Hays Woman Injured After Car Strikes Semi Trailer Near Bunker Hill
A Hays woman was injured in a crash Monday morning near Bunker Hill.
According to the Russell County Sheriff's Office, a 2021 Peterbilt Semi pulling a flatbed trailer had turned and was parked in a field entrance on Highway 40. The semi, though, was not completely off the road as the trailer remained partially in the east bound lane. A 2017 Chevrolet Malibu as traveling east bound and due to the early morning sun, the driver did not see the trailer, rear-ended it and came to rest in the north ditch.
The driver of the car, 24-year-old Janeeth Martinez-Salinas was injured and taken to the hospital in Hays. The driver of the semi, 30-year-old John Pfeifer from Stockton, was not injured.
The crash happened around 7:45 AM 0.4 miles west of 193rd Street on Highway 40.
The Russell County Sheriff’s Office, Russell County EMS, Russell Fire District #5 and City of Russell Fire Department all responded to the scene.
