Kansas hospitals provide daily health care to Kansas patients while also providing careers, services and resources that positively impact the Kansas economy.

Currently, the health care sector is among the fastest growing in the economy. When health care thrives, so does the local and state economy. Health care is also vital to communities in providing a space that all generations can live and thrive.

According to a January 2022 study, The Importance of the Health Care Sector to the Kansas Economy from the Kansas State University Department of Agricultural Economics, Kansas hospitals impact the local and state economy.

Kansas hospitals employ nearly 100,000 or five percent of all job holders in the state. For every job in the hospital sector, another 95 jobs are created in the other businesses and industries in the state equaling 94,000 jobs. State and local governments garner $2.1 billion in annual tax revenues from health care sector activities. The health care sector is the third largest aggregate employer in Kansas. For every one dollar of income generated by hospitals, another 63 cents is generated in other businesses for a total impact of $12.3 billion.
