The demand for food, hygiene items and other necessities from the Russell County Food Pantry has been much higher in recent months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, a local group has decided to host a special event to help replenish some of those items and in turn help those in need in Russell County.

The Fossil Station Flyers Disc Golf League is hosting a Kansas Disc Golf Association Benefit Tournament on Saturday, January 30 at the Memorial Park Course in Russell.

All proceeds go to the Russell County Food Pantry with donations of food also being accepted.

Entry fee is $25 and the tournament is open to all ages and ability levels, according to co-organizer Adam Cline.
