Man Arrested Just Outside of Russell Following Reckless Driving Report, Brief Chase

A man was arrested Sunday afternoon just outside of Russell following a reckless driving report and brief chase.

According to dispatch logs, at 4:01 PM Sunday, a Russell Police Officer advised Russell Dispatch she was attempting to catch up with a blue passenger car that ran the stop sign at Front Street and Wichita Avenue. The officer advised the vehicle was last seen on Homer Road.

At 4:02 PM, the officer advised she was in a field with a 2014 Kia west of 18350 Homer Road. The officer advised the occupant of the vehicle had a gun. Russell County Sheriff's Deputies also responded.

At 4:04 PM Sunday, Steven Brogan was placed under arrest and transported to the Russell County Jail.

Brogan was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign at Front and Wichita, speeding 68 mph in a 45 on Witt Avenue, failure to stop at a stop sign at Van Houten and Witt, reckless driving in the 18300 block of Homer Road, driving while suspended, felony flee and elude, and no proof of liability insurance.

Brogan was also placed under arrest on the strength of Russell district warrants for failure to appear and probation violation.
