US Representative Tracey Mann of Kansas has been selected to serve on the House Small Business Committee.

"Small businesses help drive the American economy and define the American dream," said Representative Mann. "They add brick and mortar to the values that make our country unique, like freedom, self-determination and the pursuit of happiness. As a child, I learned about the responsibility, drive and decision-making it takes to operate a small business from watching my parents operate our preconditioning feedlot and family farm. The Big First is home to more than 200,000 small businesses, and more than 80 percent of employees in the Big First are employed by small businesses. I am honored to represent the Big First on the House Small Business Committee, and I will continue to defend and support small businesses, their owners, their employees and the American values that small businesses embody."

Representative Mann will serve on the Subcommittee on Rural Development, Energy and Supply Chains and the Subcommittee on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Workforce Development.

During the 117th Congress, Representative Mann sponsored a resolution recognizing the importance of the stepped-up basis in preserving family-owned farms and small businesses. That legislation opposed any efforts to impose new taxes on family farms or small businesses and recognized the value of generational transfers of farm and family-owned businesses. Representative Mann also cosponsored 15 pieces of legislation that were referred to the House Small Business Committee.

The House Small Business Committee's jurisdiction includes assistance to and protection of small businesses, including regulatory flexibility, participation of small-business enterprises in government procurement and contracts, and investigation of the problems of small business owners and employees.
