Rural Fire District Five Bunker Hill and Dorrance firefighters responded to a semi truck fire Tuesday evening on Interstate 70 in Russell County.

The fire was paged out at 6:54 PM Tuesday according to dispatch logs.

According to RFD5 Fire Chief Tracey Kuntzsch, the fire occurred at mile marker 196.5 between Bunker Hill and Dorrance.

Kuntzsch said the semi's box trailer was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The trailer was destroyed, but the truck was unhooked from the trailer and spared from any damage.

It is believed the fire started in the brakes of the trailer.

There were no injuries.

Kuntzsch added the contents of the trailer were M&M's candies, of course producing a lot of melted chocolate at the fire scene.

The Russell County Sheriff's Office and Russell County EMS also responded to the fire.
