Russell and Ellsworth County Fairs Just Around the Corner

Fair season is officially here as the Ellsworth County Fair (July 18-23) and Russell County Free Fair (July 21-24) promise days of family fun and bringing a week of entertainment for all ages. 

Visitors can explore the 4-H Building featuring exhibits in foods, quilting, produce, photography, fine arts, woodworking, horticulture, clothing, and crafts, while enjoying food vendors and the 4-H Food Stand.

Both fairs will have plenty of livestock showcases; with horse, sheep, goat, swine, rabbit, poultry, bucket calf and beef shows throughout the week, with Russell having a Livestock Sale July 24. Adults can also get involved by participating in Adult Showmanship events following each show.

Craig Dinkel with the Midway Extension District of Russell and Ellsworth Counties joined KRSL's Erik Stone on the Morning Show to look ahead to the upcoming Russell County Free Fair and discuss some of the first events.

There will plenty of entertainment beyond the show ring, including inflatables, live music Tuesday through Friday, the Henri Wenthe Annual Summer National Frog and Turtle Races, kids pedal tractor pull, vendor booths and the return of the Ranch Rodeo on July 23.

The Russell County 4-H Junior Leaders will host several fundraisers during the week, including a bake sale and Cow Patty Bingo. Fair festivities conclude July 25 with a coed softball tournament benefiting the fair.

Dinkel encourages everyone to come out, grab some food and support the community.
