Russell County Administrator John Fletcher Announces Intent to Retire
Russell County Administrator John Fletcher has announced his intent to retire effective March 1 of this year.
The announcement was made at Tuesday's Russell County Commission meeting.
Fletcher has served as Russell County Administrator since 2013. He served as Russell County Sheriff from 1999 to 2015.
In 1985, Fletcher was hired by the Russell County Sheriff's Office as an EMT and Jailer. He also worked for the City of Russell Fire Department. He remained at the Sheriff's Office until 1988 when he went to work as a patrolman for the Russell Police Department. In 1989, he entered the
In 1999, Fletcher was appointed by then Governor Bill Graves to fill an unexpired term as Sheriff of Russell County. In 2008, Fletcher graduated from the FBI National Academy Program at
In 2013, Fletcher was appointed Russell County Administrator by the Russell County Commission after the resignation of Kenton Lyon from the position. Fletcher served as Sheriff and County Administrator at the same time until the end of 2015.
