Russell Hosts Mid-Continent League Art Paint-In

Russell High School Art Instructor Andrea Moreland hosted the Mid-Continent League Art Paint-In on Wednesday in Russell.

Eleven schools, including Russell, Ellis, TMP, Hill City, Hoxie, Norton, Phillipsburg, Plainville, Smith Center, Stockton and WaKeeney-Trego, participated.

Cal Mahin had a tough job judging, as all the paintings were amazing, said Moreland.

Each school chose six artists to paint a four-by-six feet canvas in three hours with a particular theme. This year's theme was sunflower surprise.

The winners were first place TMP, second place Norton and third place Hill City.

All artists did an amazing job said Moreland. Thanks to all that helped make this a great event.

Artworks will be hung at the basketball championship game in Plainville on Saturday, January 22.
