Trego County Deputy Arrested in Murder Conspiracy
A Trego County deputy was arrested on Friday.
According to KWCH-TV in Wichita, the Office of the Trego County Attorney received a court-signed probable cause affidavit related to an arrest the Trego County Sheriff’s Office made on Friday. Trego County Detention Deputy Jerry Jervah Jr. was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit first degree murder.
The affidavit alleges that Jervah conspired with inmates at the Trego County Law Enforcement Center to murder an inmate held in a separate facility on pending charges.
The county attorney’s office said Jervah is no longer an employee of Trego County.
After his arrest, he was transferred to Sherman County to wait for a bond hearing. No formal charges have been filed at this time.
The county attorney, Abraham Pfannenstiel, said in a news release that he is releasing the information at the request of the Trego County Sheriff’s Office.
“There is no room in our law enforcement community for actions that solicit or incite violence of any kind. Taking the law into your own hands is never the answer,” Pfannenstiel said in the statement.
The KBI is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
