Two Injured in Semi Rollover on Interstate 70 Near Walker

Two people were injured after a semi rolled over on Interstate 70 near Walker early Monday in eastern Ellis County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2009 Volvo semi was traveling westbound on I-70 near milepost 172 at 3:59 AM when it left the roadway for an unknown reason, crossed the median, overturned and came to rest on its side blocking both eastbound lanes.

Three minutes later, a 2016 GMC Sierra Pickup traveling eastbound collided with the overturned semi and came to rest in the median.

The driver of the semi, 25-year-old Abdikarim Muse from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the driver of the pickup, 35-year-old Derek Miller from Clarksville, Tennessee, were both taken to the hospital in Hays with suspected injuries.

Both were wearing seatbelts.
