Three area athletes, all from Victoria, have qualified in five events for the Kansas High School State Track and Field Meet in Wichita.

Victoria competed in the Tribune-Greeley County 1A Regional on Friday, May 19, while Natoma, Sylvan-Lucas and Wilson all were part of the Mankato-Rock Hills 1A Regional.

Victoria's Macy Hammerschmidt won the long jump and placed second in the 100 meter dash. Landon Schmidtberger took third in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump. Ethan Vonlintel was fourth in the 400 meter dash.

No athletes qualified for state from Natoma, Sylvan-Lucas or Wilson.

The Victoria girls tied for 10th with 19 points in the team standings. The Victoria boys tied for 10th with 18 points. The Quinter boys (114 points) and South Gray (92 points) took the team titles in Tribune.

In Mankato, the Sylvan-Lucas girls scored two points, but no other points were scored by Natoma, Sylvan-Lucas and Wilson. The Axtell boys (149 points) and Washington County girls (80 points) captured the team titles.

The State Track and Field Meet will be held Friday and Saturday, May 26-27 at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University. Classes 1A, 2A and 3A take the morning session on Friday with 4A, 5A and 6A going in the afternoon. Events continue throughout the day on Saturday.
