Area Teams in KBCA Preseason Rankings

The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released its first rankings ahead of the start of the 2024-25 high school season.

The Central Plains boys and girls will begin the year ranked. The CPHS boys are seventh in Class 1A Division 1, while the girls are sixth. The Ellsworth boys are ninth in 3A. The Plainville boys are eighth in 2A and LaCrosse boys eighth in 1A Division 1.

Just two teams out of the Mid-Continent League are state ranked. The Hoxie girls are third and Smith Center girls ninth, both in 2A.

Most area teams tip off their seasons this week on Thursday and Friday, December 5-6.
