SYLVAN GROVE-Geriun Boor scored two rushing touchdowns and Lane Homewood accounted for four scores including one on defense as the Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs cruised to a 52-0 Senior Night victory over arch-rival Wilson at Weatherman Field.

After Wilson went three and out on its opening drive, Sylvan-Lucas, which didn't run a single play in its own territory all night drove 25 yards in three plays as Boor scored his first touchdown from seven yards out and the Mustangs led 8-0 after the two-point conversion.  On the Dragons' next series Quarterback Taegan Thrasher was intercepted by Valden Dohl setting up Sylvan-Lucas on the 19-yard line.  Boor scored from 15 yards out to up the lead to 16-0 after a successful conversion.

Wilson then got put together its best drive of the night advancing to the Sylvan-Lucas seven yard line with the aid of two personal foul penalties against the Mustangs.  Things then turned against the Dragons when Lane Homewood intercepted a Thrasher pass and returned it 78 yards for a touchdown and the two-point conversion increased Sylvan-Lucas' lead to 24-0 after the first quarter.

Homewood scored again 52 seconds into the second period on a 12-yard run from the Quarterback position and the Mustangs led 32-0 after another successful two-point play.  On the next drive, Homewood connected with Drayse Walter on a 14-yard touchdown pass on fourth down as Walter made a diving catch in the end zone.  The advantage grew to 38-0 after the two-point play failed.

Walter then scored on a 10-yard run and Homewood threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to William Rhudolph to provide the final margin of 52-0.  The game ended at halftime due to the 45-point mercy rule.

Boor led the Sylvan-Lucas rushing attack with 43 yards on four carries and his two scores.  Homewood was a perfect three for three passing for 60 yards and two touchdowns.  The Mustangs were able to win by a large margin despite only 168 yards of total offense.  The defense was unrelenting, limiting Wilson to 30  yards of total offense while forcing four turnovers as the Mustangs posted their second consecutive shutout after last week's 50-0 victory at Central Plains.

With the victory, Sylvan-Lucas claimed their sixth consecutive win in the series.  Wilson's last triumph was a 66-22 rout at Weatherman Field in 2015.

Sylvan-Lucas (4-3, 4-1 in 8-Man Division ll District 5) is in excellent position to host a playoff game for the first time since 2005 as they have virtually locked up the number two seed in their District.  The Mustangs will close out the regular season next Friday, October 22 at Tescott.

Wilson (1-6, 1-4 in 8 Man Division ll District 5) will wrap up the regular season at home with a USD 112 battle against Central Plains.
