Mother Nature was the ultimate winner Friday afternoon as both the Baseball and Softball doubleheaders between Russell-Victoria and Sacred Heart were postponed due to rain.

Rain was in the forecast for the Russell area but it wasn't expected to arrive until early evening.  However, just after 3 p.m. what started out as sprinkles turned into a steady wind-driven rain which made the fields at both the Shaffer Field Sports Complex and Memorial Park unplayable and both doubleheaders were postponed without ever getting started.

The two schools are in the process of discussing a possible makeup date for both of the twinbills.

Earlier Friday RHS announced that the suspended second games of doubleheaders with Ellsworth from April 6 will be completed later this month.  The Softball game with the Lady Bearcats will resume at 4 p.m. April 26 at Memorial Park with Russell-Victoria leading 2-1 in the top of the second inning.  The Lady Broncos had won the first game, 13-5.

The Baseball contest with Ellsworth will resume at 4 p.m. April 29 at the Shaffer Field Complex with the Bearcats in front 2-0 after having taken Game 1, 12-4.
