Broncos Open with Sweep at Colby
Game 1: Russell-Victoria 13, Colby 7
Game 2: Russell-Victoria 12, Colby 8
The Russell-Victoria Bronco Baseball team began the 2023 Baseball season under new head coach Christien Ozores Friday with a doubleheader sweep at Colby by scores of 13-7 and 12-8.
The Broncos were able to respond to every Colby rally throughout the two games. Russell-Victoria held a 12-4 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning in the nightcap but managed to hang on despite a four-run rally by Colby.
Russell-Victoria (2-0) will play its home opener on Tuesday, April 4 at 4 p.m. when they face former North Central Activities Association rival Ellsworth.
The games will mark a historic occasion for a program celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2023. The Shaffer Field Baseball complex will for the first time feature a turf infield that was installed during the offseasson which should help reduce rainouts and improve fielding.
Both games can be heard on KRSL 95.9 FM and online at KRSL.com.
