VICTORIA-Madison Morgan scored a game-high 27 points as the LaCrosse Lady Leopards outlasted Victoria 61-57 in Central Prairie League action Friday evening at Victoria Junior-Senior High School.

LaCrosse scored the game's first eight points before Victoria closed the gap to 14-12 after the first quarter.  The Lady Knights then outscored LaCrosse 21-20 in the second stanza and even led briefly a couple of different times before the Lady Leopards claimed a 34-33 advantage at halftime which they would never relinquish.  LaCrosse outscored Victoria 16-13 in the third period to lead 50-46 and maintained their advantage to hang on for the win.

Joining Morgan, who fouled out in the game's closing minutes in double figures for LaCrosse (6-6, 2-2 CPL)  were Molly Showalter with 12 points and Avery Parrott with 10 points.  Three players also scored in double figures for Victoria (2-12, 1-3 CPL) led by 14 points from Emma Dinkel with Kennidy Amrein adding 13 points and MaKenna Wellbrock chipping in with 10.

LaCrosse's Boys completed the sweep by winning a low-scoring affair over Victoria 42-26.

The Knights led early 4-2, but the Leopards closed the first quarter with an 8-0 run to lead 10-4.  LaCrosse then outscored Victoria 8-4 in the second quarter and led 18-8 at intermission.  The Leopards maintained their pace, outscoring Victoria 10-8 in the third period to lead 28-16.  After LaCrosse increased the lead to 30-16 early in the fourth quarter, Victoria ripped off five quick points to close their deficit to 30-21 but that's as close as the Knights would get before LaCrosse put the finishing touches on their victory.

Logan Skillett led all scorers for LaCrosse (8-4, 3-1 CPL) with 11 points while Leo Schmeidler paced Victoria (6-8, 2-2) with nine points.  This was the first of two meetings in a 10-day period between the two teams.  They will meet in LaCrosse on Monday, February 6 in the 5th place game of the Hoisington Winter Jam that was postponed by snow on January 21.

The Knights and Lady Knights are next back in action on Tuesday, January 31 when they travel to Ellinwood for another league doubleheader.
