Middleton, Werth and Letsch Among Player of the Year Finalists

Media publication Sports in Kansas this week released their Player of the Year finalists for all classifications in Kansas and three area players made the list.

Russell High School senior quarterback Wyatt Middleton is a finalist for Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year. Victoria senior tailback Carson Werth is a finalist for 8-Man Division ll Offensive Player of the Year and Natoma senior Javon Letsch is a finalist for 6-Man Defensive Player of the Year. The winners will be announced later this week.

Natoma swept the 6-Man honors in 2021 following their State Championship season when Kayden Martinez was voted Offensive Player of the Year and Derek George was Defensive Player of the Year. Coach Tyler Masters was voted 6-Man Coach of the Year.

Two area coaches are finalists in their respective divisions this year. Russell's Christien Ozores is a finalist in Class 2A and longtime Victoria coach Doug Oberle is a finalist in 8-Man Division ll.
