Moresco Takes Over Top Spot at 195, Two Other RHS Wrestlers Ranked

Three members of the Russell High School wrestling team are state ranked by Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.

In Class 3-2-1A, senior Tyler Moresco (7-0) takes over the top spot at 195 pounds, while senior Jacob Windholz (15-1) is fifth at 145 pounds.

On the girls side in the 4-1A rankings, freshman Jaden Ney (10-3) moves up one spot to fourth at 132 pounds. Freshman Tionna Napue drops out of the rankings at 120 despite a perfect 12-0 record this season.

The Hoxie boys are the top ranked team in 3-2-1A followed by Plainville, Beloit, Silver Lake and Republic County. Norton is sixth followed by Wellsville, Minneapolis, Hill City and Douglass.

The Pratt girls at #1 in 4-1A followed by Burlington, Baldwin, McPherson and Wellington. Lakin is sixth followed by Eureka, Hoisington. Chapman and Holton.

The Russell boys hit the mat for the first time after the holiday break on Friday, January 7 when they host a dual with Ellinwood. Both the RHS boys and girls compete in the Norton Invitational the following day on Saturday, January 8.
