Multiple Broncos Named to Sports In Kansas Class 3A All-State Team, Evans is Player of the Year

Sports In Kansas announced its Class 3A All-State Baseball team this week and several members of the Russell-Victoria Broncos are on the team led by Player of the Year, Max Evans.

Evans, who set single-season records for hits (59) and doubles (21) while finishing with a .615 batting average and who registered 97 strikeouts while turning in an Earned Run Average of 1.18, led Russell-Victoria to its second consecutive trip to the Class 3A State Baseball tournament, the second time the Broncos have appeared in back-to-back state tourneys after pitching three shutouts during the postseason.

Evans was named to the Class 3A First Team as a Utility Player while teammate Sam Thielen made First Team as an Outfielder.  Trey Zorn made Second Team as a pitcher.  Players Jarod Ford and Kyle Huser received Honorable Mention and Head Coach Brandon Ridgley was nominated for Coach of the Year.

While Evans was Sports in Kansas' Class 3A Player of the Year, Kam Smith from State Champion Girard repeated as Pitcher of the Year and his coach Bob Fornelli was named Coach of the Year.

Russell-Victoria finished the 2026 season with a record of 23-7 and finished fourth at the Class 3A Baseball Tournament after reaching the Semifinals against Silver Lake.
