Russell K-18 Fastpitch Softball Falls to Osborne
The Russell K-18 Fastpitch Softball team once again found itself battling Mother Nature during another home date at Memorial Park Tuesday evening.
After seeing their doubleheader on June 14 against Ness City stopped by weather in the third inning, the start of Tuesday's twinbill with Osborne was delayed by 44 minutes after Memorial Park's lightning detector triggered the postponed beginning.
When action did get underway, Osborne was able to tally three seven-run innings on their way to a 21-7 win. Tionna Napue went the distance in the pitcher's circle in a losing cause for Russell. After the teams played through a rain shower in Game 1, another band of precipitation moved in after the first inning of Game 2 and the contest was called with Russell ahead 7-2. The second game will not count in the standings.
Russell (3-4) is back at Memorial Park for another doubleheader on Thursday, June 23 when they host Plainville. First pitch for Game 1 is set for 6:30 PM.
