They say in life, all good things must come to an end.  For the Russell-Victoria Lady Broncos Softball team their good thing was their season-opening nine-game winning streak.

The Ellis Lady Railers built up a big early lead then hung on late to defeat Russell-Victoria 12-8 in Game 1 a Doubleheader Friday afternoon at Russell's Memorial Park to hand Russell-Victoria its first defeat of the 2021 season.  The Lady Broncos however had no trouble turning the page as they stormed back to win the nightcap 14-5.

Russell-Victoria held a 7-5 lead entering the bottom of the fifth inning and proceeded to score nine runs in the final two frames to pull away for the bounce back win.

Russell-Victoria (10-1) will complete their suspended game from April 6 with Ellsworth at 4 p.m. Monday, April 26 at Memorial Park.  After taking the first game of the doublheader on the 6th, the Lady Broncos were in front 2-1 in the top of the second inning of Game 2 when play was halted by lightning and rain.

The Lady Broncos will make up their postponed doubleheader from April 9 with Sacred Heart on Tuesday, April 27 at 4 p.m. also at Memorial Park.

Both games will air on KRSL 95.9 FM and be streamed online at krsl.com
