Russell's Mooney Makes Cut on Day One at Class 3A Golf Tourney

Russell's Jake Mooney is moving on to the second day of the Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 3A Boys State Golf Tournament at the Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City.

Mooney, who is a Freshman turned in a score of 11-over par 82 during the first round on Monday.  He made the cut by two strokes with the cutline coming in at 84.  Mooney sits 10 strokes behind co-leaders Owen Evans of Olathe Heritage Christian Academy and Lane Workman of Carbondale-Santa Fe Trail.

Olathe Christian Academy is atop the team leaderboard after day one with a cumulative score of 310, which is 11 strokes ahead of second place Sabetha.

The final round of the tournament will tee off at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mariah Hills.
