Russell's Peerman, Strobel Go 1-2 in High Jump at MCL League Meet

The Russell High School track and field team competed in the Mid-Continent League Meet at Smith Center on Friday, May 13.

Jace Peerman won the boys high jump while Brayden Strobel finished second. Strobel also took fifth in the pole vault. Jacob Ney placed second in the 400 M dash and sixth in the 200 M dash. Jesse Whitmer was second in the 100 M dash. Peyton Pfannenstiel took second in the 200 M dash. The 4x100 relay team (Strobel, Pfannenstiel, Ney, Whitmer) was second.

On the girls side, Jaden Ney tied for third in the pole vault. Taylor Birney finished sixth in the 100 M dash.

Norton won the boys team title with 97 points. TMP-Marian took the girls team title with 94 points. The Russell boys were fifth with 53 points. The RHS girls had five points and were 10th.

Russell now turns their sights to the Class 3A Regional Meet in Phillipsburg on Thursday, May 19. Field events begin at 2 PM with running events at 4:30 PM.
