Russell's Peerman, Whitmer and Boys 4x100 Relay All Take Gold in Smith Center

The Russell High School track and field team competed in the Smith Center Redmen Relays on Tuesday, April 13.

The RHS boys earned three first place finishes. Jace Peerman won the high jump, Jessie Whitmer the 100 M dash and the 4x100 M relay team. Whitmer also placed third in the 300 M hurdles. Brayden Strobel took fourth in the high jump. Jacob Ney was sixth in the pole vault. The 4x400 M relay team ended up in fifth place.

Renee Nichol took third in both the long jump and triple jump. Camille Dortland was fifth in the 800 M run.

The Russell boys finished eighth with 42.5 points, while the girls placed tenth with 14 points. Marysville won both the boys and girls team titles. The Marysville boys had 112 points and the girls 120 points. 13 schools competed in the meet.

Next up for Russell is the Plainville Invitational on Tuesday, April 20. Events begin at 3 PM.
