Russell's Windholz, Sylvan-Lucas' Barrientes Headed Back to State

Two area high school wrestlers have qualified for the Class 3-2-1A State Wrestling Tournament.

Russell's Jacob Windholz and Sylvan-Lucas' Tra Barrientes each punched their ticket after finishing in the top four of their weight class at the Minneapolis Sub-State Tournament on Saturday, February 20.

Windholz went 2-2 and placed fourth at 138 pounds. The RHS junior returns to state for the third-straight year. Last year, he took fifth at 132 pounds. Windholz is now 26-6 on the season.

Barrientes went 3-0 and won the 285 pound division to improve to 27-0 on the season. The Sylvan-Lucas senior will try to win back-to-back state championships at 285.

The 3-2-1A State Tournament will be held on Saturday, February 27 at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.
