Russell's Zorn, Two Area Athletes Capture 2nd at State Track
A total of 25 athletes from Russell High School and surrounding area schools competed this weekend at the State Track and Field Meet at Crossland Stadium (formerly Cessna Stadium) in Wichita.
Russell's Kinsey Zorn who won the State Championship in the Girls Class 3A 800-Meter Run last year, followed that up with a second place finish this year. Central Plains' Kambree Nixon was runner-up in the Girls Class 1A 800-Meter Run and Victoria's Nick Sander took second in the Class 1A Boys High Jump.
As a team, the Russell Girls finished 19th in Class 3A with 14 points. The RHS Boys who had one athlete, Ian Strobel competing did not post a score.
In Class 1A Girls, Central Plains finished 21st with 13 points, Sylvan-Lucas placed 44th with one point while Lincoln, Victoria and Natoma did not post scores. Also from the area, Osborne finished 13th with 21 points. In Class 1A Boys, Victoria finished 23rd with 12 points, Lincoln placed 26th with 10 points, Natoma finished 35th with six points, Sylvan-Lucas finished 36th with five points while Central Plains did not post a score. Also from the area, Osborne finished eighth with 24 points.
