The City of Russell Fire Department was paged Tuesday evening to a fire at a Russell hotel that turned out to be a false alarm caused by a burst water pipe. There was no fire.

At 7:13 PM Tuesday, the Department was paged to The Lodge at Russell on South Fossil Street.

According to Fire Chief Dylan Riedel, the burst water pipe damaged roughly six rooms in the north building.

The hotel was evacuated and Riedel said firefighters were on scene for about two hours verifying the extent of the water damage, checking to make sure a fire didn't cause the burst pipe and helping hotel staff isolate the problem.

As of Wednesday morning, the hotel was without water, but does have power to the south building. Power to part of the north building was cut due to water getting into the electrical panel and electrical fixtures.
