The Russell Community Impact Award Committee is delighted to announce Cathy Berry as the recipient of the Russell Community Impact Award for February 2024.

This award celebrates individuals, businesses or organizations within the city of Russell whose selfless endeavors have significantly enhanced the community's well-being.

Cathy Berry exemplifies the spirit of community service and dedication, embodying Russell's values and potential. Her unwavering commitment to making Russell a better place to live, work and play has impacted countless lives, shaping a stronger and more vibrant community for generations to come.

Nominated by a community member who has known her for 25 years, Berry has demonstrated exceptional dedication and service in various roles within the community. For the past 18 years, she has managed the Russell Food Pantry, providing essential support to numerous families in need. Her efforts have ensured that no one in the community goes hungry, reflecting her compassionate and selfless nature.

In addition to her work with the food pantry, Berry has been actively involved in the local 4-H club, guiding and mentoring youth as they prepare for local and state fairs. Serving as a state fair judge for the 4-H club, Berry has played a crucial role in shaping Russell's next generation of leaders.

As a life member of the Russell Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #6240 since 2011, Berry has shown her commitment to honoring and supporting veterans in the community. Her involvement in various community organizations, including Otterbein Methodist Church, where she serves on the administrative council and missions, further underscores her dedication to community service.

Berry's leadership qualities, innovative problem-solving skills and collaborative efforts have made a measurable impact on Russell, ensuring inclusivity and continuous development for all residents. Her altruistic motives and willingness to give back to the community without expecting anything in return make her a true role model for others.

As the Russell Community Impact Award winner, Berry will have $250 donated to the nonprofit of her choice. KRSL/KZRS Russell Radio General Manager Mike McKenna presented Berry with a $250 check for the Russell Food Pantry during the formal recognition at the March 19 City Council meeting.
