Creating access, availability and quality locally is important to Russell Regional Hospital.

Continuing to expand into programs and services locally increases community quality of life while also supporting a healthy local economy where patients do not have to leave the community to receive services. One of the new additions in 2023 at the RRH Physicians Clinic is counseling services. Sarah VonFeldt, Licensed Master Social Worker, provides the counseling services within the rural health clinic setting at 200 South Main Street in Russell.

Many factors play into mental health. Depression, anxiety, medical issues, relationship issues, stress, grief and more. Having the opportunity to work with a licensed care provider can assist clients in living a healthy lifestyle. Clients do not have to be an established patient of the Physicians Clinic to receive services. A variety of insurance options are accepted or a payment plan can be coordinated with the RRH Business Office. Referrals are welcomed, but not required. Making an appointment is as simple as calling 785-483-3131. Agencies that may have the need to refer clients as part of their program guidelines are encouraged to contact VonFeldt for any details needed about programs, services or the referral process.

Getting outdoors and staying active can increase mental health stability. The RRH Physicians Clinic offers a monthly Walk with a Doc program on the last Friday of the month at 10 AM at the RRH Fitness Trail. The program is free and offers the public the opportunity to learn about a current health topic while walking with a Physician Clinic provider and RRH staff. October 27 is the next Walk with a Doc. The scheduled provider for the event is Dr. Tyrel Somers. For clinic appointments please call 785-483-3333. Walk-in services remain Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to Noon. Thank you for supporting local health care.
