Fossil Bar and Grill to be Featured on America's Best Restaurants
Local restaurant Fossil Bar and Grill will be hosting a visit from America's Best Restaurants (ABR) in late October 2023.
America's Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on October 25. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owners Donna Wagner and Kisha Green about the restaurant's special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.
Wagner and Green were both employees of Fossil Bar and Grill before taking over ownership, which will be official early next year. They hope that being featured on the episode will boost local business and also let travelers know that they are here and ready to welcome them.
"We've worked hard, we've both put our hearts and souls in it," said Wagner, of the transition to ownership. "To see this place [from] a year and a half ago and to see what we turned it around to be is a huge accomplishment for both of us."
The restaurant is open and spacious, with a large historical mural on one wall done by local artist Rick Rupp.
While the menu focuses on pizza, pasta dishes, sandwiches and burgers, the homemade bierocks are likely to be featured on the episode as a unique and hard-to-find item. Bierocks are savory dough pockets filled with a cabbage and beef filling and are of German origin.
Another unusual item is the Raising Kane burger, open face and topped with fries and homemade queso.
"Freaking amazing," added Wagner.
America's Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Wednesday, October 25 from 9 AM to Noon. The restaurant's finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America's Best Restaurants' website at https://americasbestrestaurants.com/rests/kansas/fossil-bar-and-grill.
