Hays Woman Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash Thursday Outside of Hays

A Hays woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning just outside of Hays.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at 9:45 AM Thursday, a 2006 International trash truck driven by 55-year-old Terrence Riedel of Gorham was northbound on US Highway 183 at 27th Street when it moved onto the northbound shoulder in an attempt to avoid a collision with a 2000 Buick LeSabre driven by 47-year-old Gwyn Legleiter of Hays.

The Buick was southbound on the US Highway 183 Bypass when it crossed the center line and traveled off the roadway to the left.

The vehicles collided on the northbound shoulder.

Legleiter was taken to Hays Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.

She was not buckled up at the time of the crash.

Riedel was not injured and was buckled up.
