KFB's Foundation for Agriculture Awards $26,500 in Scholarships
Each year Kansas Farm Bureau's Foundation for Agriculture awards scholarships to college students studying in fields that benefit agriculture and rural Kansas.
Forty-five recipients were awarded $26,500 in scholarships for the 2024-25 school year.
Over the past decade, the foundation has awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships.
"We're investing in students today to ensure they become tomorrow's leaders," said KFB President and Foundation Chair Joe Newland.
Karlie Albright of Jackson County was awarded $1,000 for the Frank and Helen Bernasek Memorial Scholarship, a permanent, privately endowed scholarship fund.
Madeline Drake of Pratt County was awarded $1,000 for the K-State Agricultural Communications and Journalism Scholarship.
Carissa Dalquest of Morris County is the winner of the $500 Godfrey and Emma Bahr-Miller Memorial Scholarship, a permanent, privately endowed scholarship fund for students attending a college in Kansas and majoring in a subject related to agriculture.
Jonathan Temaat of Logan County was awarded $500 for the DeWitt Ahlerich Memorial Scholarship, a permanent, privately endowed scholarship fund.
Thaddeus Donley of Ellsworth County and Hannah Tomes of Sedgwick County were each awarded $500 from the Lester Crandall Memorial Scholarship, a permanent, privately endowed fund.
Lana Mayfield of Allen County was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Michael J. Berntsen Memorial Scholarship.
Eight students received $500 scholarships to Kansas technical colleges. They are Braden Bergsma of Sherman County, Cordell Brown of Wichita County, Cole Flory of Douglas County, Rylan Goossen of Gray County, Grant Hervey of Cowley County, Madison McGee of Cowley County, Cody Pierce of Lane County and Edan White of Kearney County.
Four $1,000 KFB Foundation scholarships were awarded to juniors and seniors enrolled in Kansas State University's College of Agriculture. They are Nicole Haase of Ellsworth County, August Hulse of Ottawa County, Shelby Spreier of Harvey County and Aidan Yoho of Woodson County.
Two $1,000 KFB Foundation scholarships were awarded to juniors and seniors enrolled at Fort Hays State University. Recipients are Desiree Littlechild of Trego County and Ethan McPherson of Riley County.
Twenty-four recipients received $500 scholarships. These students are attending a Kansas college with a Kansas Farm Bureau Collegiate Farm Bureau chapter. Students must be a Collegiate Farm Bureau chapter member.
Recipients include from Allen Community College Tylier Small of Johnson County and Cody Wille of Woodson County, from Barton Community College Lillian Krohlow of Riley County, from Butler Community College Jalyn Davis of Wabaunsee County and Cally Miller of Butler County, from Colby Community College Jenna Milford of Johnson County and Allie Seltman of Rush County, from Fort Hays State University Morgan Barba of Ellis County, Chloe Ecord of Franklin County, Rylan Hays of Phillips County, Gracie Karst of Ness County, Kiana Martin of Ellis County, Addison Sherer of Kiowa County and Luke Wiens of Marion County, from Garden City Community College Hayden Jellison of Gray County, from Kansas State University Patrick Biggs of Shawnee County, Ryleigh Carr of Riley County, Candace Fry of Ford County, Reece Geer of Clay County, Hayden Lott of Riley County, Olivia Rickel of Jackson County and Laine Schmalzried of Riley County, and from Pratt Community College Kayle Wagner of Jewell County and Zack Zongker of Reno County.
