US Representative Tracey Mann of Kansas called on Congress April 15 to pass a comprehensive, five-year farm bill.

For the twenty fifth time on the House Floor, Representative Mann stressed the importance of passing a farm bill that is long enough to provide certainty to agricultural producers and short enough to respond to market changes.

"In the almost five and a half years since the last farm bill was signed into law, the world has drastically changed," said Representative Mann. "Since 2018, we have experienced a global pandemic, watched in horror as a war unfolded between Russia and Ukraine, and now Israel and Hamas, and witnessed President Biden's failed trade agenda cause market fluctuation that no one could have imagined. The livelihoods of American producers and consumers are on the line right now, and that means our food security and national security are on the line too. American farmers, ranchers and agricultural producers need certainty like never before – and Congress must deliver for them with a five-year farm bill."

As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, Representative Mann has continued to advocate for Kansas farmers, ranchers and agricultural producers during the farm bill reauthorization process. Some of Representative Mann's priorities include protecting and strengthening crop insurance, incentivizing agricultural trade programs that help America remain competitive and secure, and conducting rigorous oversight and rolling back overly restrictive regulations.

In May 2023, Representative Mann hosted a farm bill listening session in Gypsum with US House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson of Pennsylvania to hear from Kansas farmers, ranchers, agricultural producers and agricultural leaders about their desires for the next farm bill.

The Big First is home to 60,000 farms and ranches and is the third-largest agriculture production district in the country. Representative Mann serves on the House Agriculture Committee, as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry, and on the Subcommittee on Commodity Markets, Digital Assets and Rural Development, and the Subcommittee on Nutrition, Foreign Agriculture and Horticulture.
